Water as a Marker of Seasonal Change
Although March 20 marks the first official day of spring on the calendar, the temperature here in Hartford, Connecticut is still hovering around 40 degrees fahrenheit during the day and dropping into the 20s and 30s at night. There are many signs, however, that the seasons are indeed changing. In Stamford, CT, where Elena lives, the ice that has melted in the pond on her property and the growing translucent quality of light reflected in the water clearly reveal the transition from winter to spring.
